Conversion Funnel Calculator

Step conversion rates, drop-off and traffic needed to hit a sales target.

About this tool

Enter the number of people at each stage of your funnel, such as visitors, product views, add to cart, checkout and purchases. You can rename, add or remove stages. For each stage the calculator shows the rate from the previous step, the share of the original audience still in the funnel and how many dropped out. It highlights the weakest step. With an average order value it shows revenue, and with a target it shows how much top-of-funnel traffic you need.

How to read a conversion funnel

Take a shop with 20,000 visitors, 6,000 product views, 900 add-to-carts, 450 checkouts and 300 purchases. The step rates are 30%, 15%, 50% and 67%, and the overall conversion is 1.5%. At an average order value of 60 that is 18,000 in revenue. The weakest step is product view to cart at 15%, and that is usually the best place to work, because every improvement there carries through to the later stages. Lifting it from 15% to 20% grows purchases by a third with no extra traffic. Working backwards, 500 purchases at the same rates would need about 33,300 visitors. Honest limits: real journeys are not strictly linear, since people skip steps, return days later or switch devices. Treat the numbers as a model of your analytics rather than an exact count. The A/B test calculator checks whether a change really helped, the ad cost calculator prices the traffic and the ROI calculator measures the return. How A/B testing works โ€” and the three ways it lies and UTM parameters explained: the five tags and how to use them consistently help with tracking.
