Instagram Line Break Generator

Keep blank lines in Instagram captions and bios, with length and hashtag checks.

About this tool

Write or paste your caption with the spacing you want. The tool removes trailing spaces that stop line breaks working, and fills each empty line with an invisible character (or a full stop if you prefer) so your paragraphs survive posting. It counts characters, hashtags and mentions against Instagram's limits and previews what shows before "… more". Copy it straight into Instagram. Nothing is stored.

Why Instagram removes your line breaks

Instagram has long been inconsistent with spacing. Blank lines between paragraphs often collapse, and a space typed at the end of a line, invisible to you, can stop the line break after it from working, so a carefully spaced caption becomes one dense block. The usual workaround is to put an invisible character on each empty line, so Instagram treats it as a line with content. The Braille blank (U+2800) is the most reliable, and the Hangul filler (U+3164) is an alternative. Some people still use a visible full stop or dash. The tool also keeps you within the limits: captions can be up to 2,200 characters, with up to 30 hashtags and 20 mentions. Only the first line or two (roughly 125 characters) shows in the feed before "… more", so put your hook there. Short paragraphs, a clear call to action and a few relevant hashtags at the end generally read best. Honest limits: Instagram changes how it handles text from time to time. Screen readers may announce invisible characters, so use spacing sparingly for accessibility. The hashtag generator, the social media character counter and the emoji remover are related.
