llms.txt Generator
Build an /llms.txt file that helps AI assistants understand your site.
About this tool
Enter your site or project name, a one- or two-sentence summary and optional details. Then add sections of links, each line written as "Title | URL | short note". An Optional section lists secondary links an assistant can skip. The file builds as Markdown as you type, with warnings for missing parts or bad links, ready to copy or download as llms.txt.
What llms.txt is and how to use it
llms.txt is a proposal published in 2024 at llmstxt.org for a Markdown file at the root of a website, written for large language models rather than search crawlers. It gives an AI assistant a concise map of the most useful content, so it can answer questions about your site without wading through navigation, ads and scripts. The format is simple. An H1 with the name is the only required part. A blockquote summary follows, then optional details, then H2 sections listing important pages as Markdown links with a short note each. A section titled Optional marks links that can be skipped when an assistant's context window is short. Upload the result to your site as /llms.txt. Some sites also publish /llms-full.txt containing the full text of key pages. Honest limits: llms.txt is a community proposal, not an official web standard, and support among AI products varies. It is a cheap, low-risk addition, but clear content, structured data and a sitemap matter more for being understood and cited by AI tools. The robots.txt generator controls crawler access, the schema generator adds structured data and the sitemap generator lists every page. What structured data is, and what it does for a page explains structured data.
