PDF Page Size Checker

Every page's size in mm, inches and points, with paper name.

About this tool

Drop in a PDF to see each page's width and height in mm, inches and points, its paper size name, orientation and rotation, plus a summary that flags documents mixing several sizes.

Why page size matters

A PDF's page size decides how it prints. An A4 document printed on US Letter paper loses a little at the top and bottom, a Letter document on A4 gets clipped at the sides, and a file that mixes sizes (common after merging scans, slides and forms) may print some pages tiny or cropped. Print shops and online submission systems often require a specific size too. PDF sizes are stored in points (1/72 inch), which this tool converts to millimetres and inches and matches against A0 to A6, B4 and B5, Letter, Legal, Tabloid, Executive and Statement within about 1 mm. Rotation is taken into account, so a rotated portrait page reads as landscape, the way it appears on screen. Honest limits: the page box measured is the visible page, not the bleed or trim box used in professional printing, and a page that looks blank may still have a size. The PDF fit to page tool resizes pages to one paper size, and the paper sizes chart lists every standard size.

Frequently asked questions

How do I tell if a PDF is A4 or Letter?

Drop it in. A4 is 210 by 297 mm and Letter is 215.9 by 279.4 mm, and each page is labelled with its size name.

What is a point in PDF sizes?

A point is 1/72 of an inch, about 0.353 mm. An A4 page is 595 by 842 points.

Why do some pages show a different size?

The PDF mixes page sizes, often after merging scans or slides. The summary lists each size and how many pages use it; the table shows every page.

Can I change the page size here?

No. This only checks sizes; use the PDF fit to page tool to resize pages.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is read and processed in your browser on this device; nothing is uploaded or stored.
