Pressure Converter

Convert psi, bar, kPa, atm, mmHg, inHg and more, all at once.

About this tool

Enter a pressure and choose its unit. Every other unit updates at once, and tapping a result copies it.

Which pressure unit is used where

psi (pounds per square inch) is standard for US tyres, air compressors and pressure washers. bar and kPa are used for tyres, plumbing, espresso machines and diving across most of the world; 1 bar is 100 kPa, roughly atmospheric pressure. MPa appears in hydraulics and material strength, hPa (identical to the millibar) in weather forecasts, mmHg in blood pressure and vacuum work, inHg in US weather and aircraft altimeters, and inches of water in HVAC duct pressure. Useful anchors: 32 psi is 2.21 bar or 220.6 kPa; 1 bar is 14.50 psi; standard atmospheric pressure is 101.325 kPa, 1,013.25 hPa, 29.92 inHg or 760 mmHg. Honest limits: gauges for tyres and compressors read gauge pressure (above the surrounding air), while absolute pressure adds about 1 atm. The conversion is the same, but don't mix the two. The torque converter and the air density calculator are related.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert psi to bar?

Divide psi by 14.504. For example, 32 psi is 2.21 bar.

How many psi is 1 bar?

1 bar is 14.50 psi, or 100 kPa.

What is standard atmospheric pressure?

101,325 Pa: 1,013.25 hPa, 14.70 psi, 29.92 inHg or 760 mmHg.

What is the difference between gauge and absolute pressure?

Gauge pressure is measured relative to the surrounding atmosphere; absolute pressure adds atmospheric pressure, about 1 bar.
