Ringtone Maker
Cut the best 30 seconds of a song with fades and save an MP3 ringtone.
About this tool
Load a song, voice note or sound effect. Drag the slider or click the waveform to choose the section you want, set the length (up to 40 seconds) and the fades, then preview it. Save it as an MP3 for Android and most phones, or as a WAV.
Making a good ringtone
A ringtone should grab attention in the first second and loop gracefully, so pick a recognisable moment, usually the start of the chorus or a strong intro riff, rather than a quiet verse. Thirty seconds is the classic length. Calls rarely ring longer, and iPhones accept up to 40 seconds. A short fade-in (about 1 second) stops the tone from starting with a click or a blast, and a longer fade-out (about 2 seconds) makes the loop back to the start less jarring. On Android, copy the MP3 into the phone's Ringtones or Notifications folder, or open it in Files and choose "Set as ringtone". You can also assign it to one contact so you know who's calling without looking. iPhones need a .m4r file added through GarageBand on the phone (import the song, trim it, then Share โ Ringtone) or through Finder or iTunes on a computer. Making the clip here first keeps that step quick. The audio is decoded in your browser, trimmed and faded, then encoded to MP3 at 192 kbps with the LAME encoder, all on your device. Honest limits: songs bought or streamed with DRM protection can't be opened, so use files you own or royalty-free sounds, and only use music you have the right to use. The audio trimmer, the audio fade tool and audio to MP3 are related.
Frequently asked questions
How long should a ringtone be?
About 30 seconds. iPhone ringtones can be up to 40 seconds, and Android allows longer, but calls rarely ring that long.
How do I set an MP3 as a ringtone on Android?
Copy it to the phone's Ringtones folder, or open it in your Files app and choose 'Set as ringtone'.
Can I make an iPhone ringtone?
Make and save the clip here, then import it into GarageBand on the iPhone and share it as a ringtone, or add it as an .m4r through Finder or iTunes.
Is my song uploaded?
No. It's processed and encoded in your browser and never leaves your device.
