🏆Team Name Generator

About this tool

Pick the type of team (work or office, pub quiz, sports, funny, gaming or a charity walk) and optionally add a keyword such as your town, company, mascot or captain's name. Personalised names come first, followed by a shuffled list of ideas. Tap a name to copy it, or press More names. Nothing is stored.

How to choose a team name

A good team name is easy to say, easy to remember and fits the occasion. Quiz teams love puns on famous names and phrases ("Les Quizerables", "Agatha Quiztie"), and quizmasters often read the cleverest out. Sports teams usually want something that sounds strong on a shirt or league table, often a place name plus a classic suffix (United, Rovers, Athletic) or an animal or force of nature (Thunder, Wolves). Work teams and project groups work best with positive, inclusive names that people won't cringe at in meetings. Gaming teams and clans lean on gaming slang, and charity teams often use walking or running puns ("Sole Mates") that help fundraising pages stand out. Tips: keep it short enough to shout or fit on a scoreboard, check it isn't already used by a local club or another team in your league, and make sure everyone is happy with anything cheeky, especially at work or with children's teams. Honest limits: many of these are well-known puns, so other teams may use them too. The team generator splits people into random teams, and the business name generator and the username generator are related.
