Wedding Anniversary Calculator

Years married, next anniversary, gift by year and day milestones.

About this tool

Enter your wedding date and the tool shows how long you've been married in years, months and days, which anniversary is next, the date and how many days away it is, and its traditional and modern gift themes. A table lists your 1,000th, 5,000th, 10,000th, 15,000th and 20,000th days together. Open the gift list to see every year's theme. Nothing is stored.

Anniversary gifts and milestones

Wedding anniversary gift themes go back centuries. Silver (25th) and gold (50th) are the oldest, and fuller lists were popularised in the 20th century. The traditional list runs paper (1st), cotton (2nd), leather (3rd), fruit and flowers or linen (4th), wood (5th), sugar or iron (6th), wool or copper (7th), bronze (8th), pottery or willow (9th) and tin or aluminium (10th). The big milestones are crystal (15th), china (20th), silver (25th), pearl (30th), ruby (40th), gold (50th), diamond (60th) and platinum (70th). A modern list suggests alternatives, such as clocks for the 1st or diamond jewellery for the 10th. Lists vary between the UK and US and between sources, and many years have no agreed theme, so treat them as inspiration rather than rules. Counting days gives some fun extra milestones: a couple married on 18 June 2016 reach 10,000 days together on 4 November 2043. If you married on 29 February, the tool counts the anniversary on 28 February in non-leap years. The days since calculator, the countdown timer and the age difference calculator are related.
