Clock Worksheet Generator
Printable telling-time worksheets with an answer key.
About this tool
Choose 'read the clock' or 'draw the hands', the level of precision, the number of clocks and whether times appear as digital or in words. Print the worksheet and its answer key; the sheet number reproduces the same times.
Teaching children to tell the time
Telling the time is usually taught in steps: o'clock, then half past, then quarter past and quarter to, then five-minute intervals and finally any minute. This generator makes practice sheets for each stage. In read the clock mode each clock face shows hands and children write the time underneath; in draw the hands mode the time is printed and they draw the hour and minute hands on a blank face. Times can be written digitally (3:15) or in words (quarter past three, twenty-five to eleven, seven minutes past twelve). The hour hand is drawn realistically, moving between the numbers as the minutes pass, so at half past three it sits halfway between 3 and 4. That detail is exactly what children need to learn and what many simple worksheets get wrong. Choose 6, 9 or 12 clocks, show or hide the numbers on the face for extra challenge, and print the answer key. Honest limits: wording follows common UK and US phrasing, and 24-hour clock practice isn't included. The analog clock and the number line generator are related.
