Org Chart Maker

Indented list of people to a tidy organisation chart, as SVG or PNG.

About this tool

Type one person per line as Name | Job title, and indent each person under their manager with two spaces or a tab. The chart redraws as you type, with the top person highlighted, managers centred over their teams and long names wrapped. Choose a colour theme and download an SVG for crisp printing and editing, or a PNG for presentations.

Making a clear organisation chart

An organisation chart shows who reports to whom. It's useful for onboarding new starters, planning a restructure, explaining a project team to a client or putting in a funding pitch. Writing the structure as an indented list is much faster than dragging boxes around: the outline is the hierarchy, and the layout follows automatically. Each extra level of indentation is one more level of reporting. Every manager is centred over their direct reports, every level gets its own row, and connectors are drawn as tidy elbows. Keep labels short, using a name and a job title, and group large teams under team leads so the chart stays readable. Very flat structures, where one manager has many direct reports, produce wide charts; splitting the chart by department or showing only two or three levels at a time often works better. SVG downloads stay sharp at any size and can be edited further in tools such as Figma, Illustrator or Inkscape; PNG downloads are rendered at double resolution for slides and documents. Honest limits: each person has one manager, so dotted-line or matrix reporting isn't shown, and there are no photos. Names you type never leave your device. The RACI matrix clarifies who does what, the mind map maker and the flowchart maker use the same text-to-diagram approach.

Frequently asked questions

How do I show who reports to whom?

Indent each person two spaces further than their manager; everyone at the same indentation under a manager is a direct report.

Can I add job titles?

Yes. Write Name | Job title on each line.

Can I edit the chart afterwards?

Download the SVG and open it in a vector editor such as Figma, Illustrator or Inkscape.

Is my data saved?

No. The chart is drawn in your browser and nothing is stored or sent.
