JPG, PNG, and WebP · up to 20 files · nothing is uploaded
How to use the compress image
Drop photos on this page to shrink them. Compression runs on your computer with the Canvas API — we never receive the file. That is the difference from most “online compressors.”
Add images
Drop files, browse, or paste. JPEG, PNG, and WebP are supported. HEIC from iPhones is not decoded in every browser yet.
Tune quality
The quality slider is JPEG quality. Lower means smaller files. You can also cap the long edge (1600px, 1200px, or custom) before compressing.
Download
Download one image or all of them. Compare original vs compressed size on each card.
About this tool
Email, job portals, and government forms still enforce size caps from a decade ago. Compressing locally is faster than a server pipeline and safer for IDs, kids, and unpublished work. If you need different dimensions rather than a smaller file, resize and crop are their own tools here — and because every one of them re-encodes through a canvas, the EXIF block with your camera model and GPS position is dropped on the way out.
Frequently asked questions
- Do you upload my photos?
- No. There is no upload. If you disconnect from the internet after the page loads, the tool still works.
- Will quality look worse?
- At 80–92% JPEG, most photos look the same and lose a lot of weight. Drop lower for thumbnails or when a form has a hard size cap.
- Why not PNG?
- PNG is lossless and often large. This tool converts to JPEG by default for photos. Keep PNG only when you need transparency or screenshots with text.
