Making invitations that work
A good invitation answers the questions guests will ask: who it's for or from, what the occasion is, when (date and time, with an end time for children's parties), where (a full address helps people navigate), and how to reply (the RSVP contact and a date to reply by). A short extra note covers anything guests need to know, such as dress code, gifts, food, parking or accessibility. Start from birthday, wedding, baby shower or general party wording and change every line. Choose a classic, fun, elegant or modern style, and print one large invitation per page, two per page (A5 or half-letter, the usual card size) or four per page (postcard size), with dashed cut lines. Card stock around 200–300 gsm gives a quality feel; for a digital invitation, use 'Save as PDF' and email or message the file. Send invitations about 3–4 weeks before a party and 6–8 weeks before a wedding, ideally after save-the-dates.
