How to use the random activity wheel

A boredom wheel that gives you something you can actually begin right now. Half the list is indoors, half needs a coat, and none of it requires buying anything first.

  1. Spin

Click the wheel or press Space. Everything on this wheel can be started within a minute — no shopping trip, no booking, no equipment.

  2. Read the result

The winning slice is chosen with the browser’s cryptographic random number generator before the animation starts, so the spin plays out a decision that has already been made fairly.

  3. Edit, share, or project it

The list stays editable — add, remove, or reorder lines and the wheel redraws. Copy the share link to send your version to someone else, or go fullscreen so the wheel is readable across a room.

About this tool

Boredom is rarely a shortage of options. It is usually the cost of choosing between them while tired. A wheel removes the choosing step, which is the part that was actually blocking you.

If you use this often, keep two lists: a ten-minute one and an afternoon one. Spinning an afternoon activity when you have ten minutes free is how a good idea turns into a guilty one.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make an indoor-only wheel?
Delete the outdoor lines before you spin, or paste your own list. Then copy the share link so you can come back to that version.
Is this good for kids in the school holidays?
Yes, and it works better if the children build the list themselves in the morning. They are far more willing to accept a result they helped write.
What if I do not like the result?
Spin again — but notice that you did not like it. Wanting a different answer usually means you already know what you would rather be doing.
