How to use the people emoji picker
Hands, gestures, professions, and people. This is where ๐, ๐, ๐, and ๐ค live โ the emoji that do the most work in group chats and work messages, because a gesture ends a thread faster than a sentence does.
Find it
Type what you mean into the search box โ a name or a nickname. We match the official Unicode name, its category, and common nicknames, so "lol" finds ๐ and "100" finds ๐ฏ.
Click to copy
One click copies the character to your clipboard and the button confirms it. Your last copies are kept under the search box, stored in this browser only.
Paste it anywhere
Emoji are ordinary Unicode characters, so they paste into Instagram, WhatsApp, Slack, Discord, documents, spreadsheets, filenames, and anywhere else that accepts text โ no image, no download, no font to install.
About this tool
Gesture emoji carry more regional meaning than faces do. ๐ and ๐ค read very differently depending on where the reader grew up, and a thumbs up is warm in one workplace and curt in another.
For work messages, the safe set is small: ๐, ๐, ๐, ๐ค. Everything else is worth a second thought before sending it to someone you do not know well.
Frequently asked questions
- Where are the skin tone versions?
- Left out on purpose. Including all five tones would triple the list and make every search harder to scan. Copy the base emoji and add a tone in your keyboard if you need one.
- Does ๐ mean prayer or a high five?
- Unicode calls it folded hands. It is used for please, thank you, and prayer, and the high-five reading is a widespread misunderstanding that has become its own convention.
- Why are some people emoji made of several characters?
- Professions and families are sequences joined by a zero-width joiner โ ๐ง plus ๐ป becomes ๐งโ๐ป. Older systems that do not understand the join show the parts separately.
