How to use the symbol emoji picker

Hearts in every colour, arrows, warning signs, ticks and crosses, zodiac symbols, and the assorted marks that end up doing structural work in plain text. Click to copy any of them.

  1. Find it

Type what you mean into the search box — a name or a nickname. We match the official Unicode name, its category, and common nicknames, so "lol" finds 😂 and "100" finds 💯.

  2. Click to copy

One click copies the character to your clipboard and the button confirms it. Your last copies are kept under the search box, stored in this browser only.

  3. Paste it anywhere

Emoji are ordinary Unicode characters, so they paste into Instagram, WhatsApp, Slack, Discord, documents, spreadsheets, filenames, and anywhere else that accepts text — no image, no download, no font to install.

About this tool

Symbols are the least emotional and most functional part of the set. ✅ ⚠️ ➡️ are effectively punctuation now: they mark status, risk, and direction in places that offer no formatting.

That functional use is also where rendering differences hurt most. If a ⚠️ shows up flat and grey on half your readers' devices, it stops carrying urgency — test anything load-bearing.

Frequently asked questions

What do the different coloured hearts mean?
There is no official meaning — Unicode only names the colour. Conventions exist (❤️ love, 💚 environment or a team colour, 🖤 grief or aesthetics) but they vary by community and shift over time.
Which tick should I use?
✅ is a green filled check and reads as done. ✔️ is a plain heavy check mark and renders monochrome on many platforms. Pick one and stay consistent within a document.
Why do some symbols look flat instead of colourful?
Several are older text characters that gained an emoji presentation later. Whether you get the flat or the colour version depends on the platform and on an invisible variation selector.
