About this tool
Travel emoji do a lot of structural work: in an itinerary, a βοΈ or π in front of a line tells you what kind of leg it is before you read a word of it.
The buildings are also the least consistently drawn part of the whole set. A π¨ and a π’ can look nearly identical at message size on some platforms.
Frequently asked questions
- Are the landmarks real places?
- Some are. πΌ is Tokyo Tower, π½ is the Statue of Liberty, and πΏ is a moai. Others β the generic castle and stadium β are deliberately unattached to any one place.
- Why are the moon phases here?
- Unicode files sky and space under travel and places, so π π π sit alongside the aeroplanes rather than with weather.
- Which direction does the car face?
- It varies by platform, and it is the single most common complaint about this section. If direction matters to your layout, check it on the device your readers use.
