How to use the smiley emoji picker

Faces do most of the work in a message: they set the tone a sentence cannot. This page lists every smiley and emotion emoji in Unicode — smiling, laughing, crying, unwell, and the whole range of unimpressed — with click-to-copy on each one.

About this tool

Smileys are the oldest part of the emoji set and still the most used by a wide margin. A handful of faces account for most of everyday messaging; the rest exist for the moment you need exactly one of them.

What is the difference between 😂 and 🤣?
😂 is face with tears of joy — amused. 🤣 is rolling on the floor laughing — louder. Usage has drifted so far that either reads as ordinary laughter now.
Why do some faces look different on my phone?
Every platform draws its own set. Apple, Google, Samsung, and Microsoft all interpret the same character differently, which is why 😬 can read as awkward on one device and pained on another.
