How to use the small caps generator
Small caps render lower-case letters as miniature capitals: ʜᴇʟʟᴏ. It is the quietest of the Unicode styles — noticeable enough to mark a heading, restrained enough not to look like a ransom note.
Type your text
Enter the words you want styled. Letters and digits are converted where the style has a matching character; punctuation and spaces pass through unchanged.
Copy the result
Use the copy button on the highlighted style. Small capitals come from the IPA phonetic extensions block, which is why the set is complete for most letters.
Paste it anywhere
The result is text, not an image, so it pastes into Instagram, TikTok, X, Discord, WhatsApp, and any form that accepts plain text. If a device is missing the characters you will see empty boxes — try a different style.
About this tool
Typographers use real small caps for acronyms and opening lines, because full capitals sit taller than lower-case letters and punch a hole in the texture of a paragraph. The Unicode version borrows that idea for places where you have no typographic control at all.
It is the style most likely to still look intentional in six months, which makes it the safest choice for a profile you do not want to rewrite.
Frequently asked questions
- Why is the letter q or x sometimes odd?
- These characters exist for phonetic notation, not typography, so a handful of letters have no true small-cap form and fall back to a near match. Everything else in the alphabet is covered.
- Does it work with capital letters?
- Capitals stay full height, which is the intended effect — type your text in lower case for a uniform small-caps line.
- Is this better than typing in all caps?
- For emphasis, usually yes. All caps reads as shouting and is measurably slower to read; small caps carries the same structure without the volume.
